Katsina United has clearly stated that Nigerian footballer Chinedu Ozor did not ressurect as being reported.
In short, the club says Ozor never regained consciousness after collapsing during a pre-season game.
Yes, the club says, sadly, that is not what happened. Ozor collapsed during Katsina United’s friendly against Niger Tornadoes at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina. Despite efforts to save him, he passed away.
Afterward, reports started circulating that he had regained consciousness. But Katsina United says those reports are false.
“We all desperately wanted this to be true. But sadly, those reports are not true,” the club said.
According to the club, the confusion came after Ozor’s family, still hoping for a different outcome, asked doctors to carry out further medical confirmation before his body was taken to the morgue.
Katsina United stressed that this should not be taken to mean that Ozor survived.
“He did not regain consciousness. He passed away,” the club stated.
The club is now asking people to stop spreading rumours and unverified reports, saying Ozor’s family and teammates are grieving and need privacy.
“At this moment, what his family needs is compassion, not speculation,” the club said.
