Italy has approved a major education reform giving parents greater authority over whether their children receive sex education in school, while removing sex education from nursery and primary classrooms.
Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara said the policy is intended to strengthen parental rights and protect children from what he described as "gender propaganda."
Under the new rules, parents must give informed consent before older students take part in sex education lessons.
The decision has sparked debate across Italy.
Supporters argue that parents should have the primary role in guiding their children's moral formation, values, and worldview.
Critics contend that limiting sex education could reduce students' access to important information about health, relationships, and personal safety.
For many Christians, the discussion raises a deeper question about the role of parents, schools, and government in shaping the next generation.
The Bible says:
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." — Proverbs 22:6
As debates over education and identity continue around the world, many believers are praying for wisdom for parents, teachers, and leaders, and for children to be raised with truth, love, and discernment.
