Guinea President Mamady Doumbouya, who also serves as Head of State, has announced he is taking an official presidential leave starting today, Monday, August 3, 2026.
He will travel to Greece for a short period of rest, accompanied by his family.
According to an official communiqué from the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic of Guinea, the leave follows “an intense mobilization in service to the Nation and the conduction of major reconstruction projects for the well-being of our populations.”
The statement does not specify the exact duration of the stay.
Doumbouya, who seized power in a 2021 military coup and was later elected president in the December 2025 elections, is taking what has been described as a rare official annual leave as head of state.
More details will follow as they become available.
