Great Britain may soon have its first Catholic Prime Minister

In a landmark moment for British politics and Catholic history, Andy Burnham is poised to become the United Kingdom’s first lifelong Catholic Prime Minister.

Raised in a Catholic family in the North of England, educated at Catholic schools, and a former altar boy, Burnham’s faith journey has deeply shaped his politics rooted in Catholic social teaching — solidarity, subsidiarity, and the common good.

Following Keir Starmer’s resignation, the Labour leader and MP for Makerfield is the strong frontrunner to enter 10 Downing Street later this month.
