Three alleged kidnappers, Mahmud Abdulai aged 32, Ganiu Sumaila aged 32 and Abdulai Salam aged 28, have been arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command, for their involvement in the abduction of Ayuba Sumiya Mawudu at Dobini Bunban near Yendi.

The suspects are reported to have been arrested at different locations at Sang in the Moon District.

Preliminary investigations established that the victim was abducted on 25 September, 2026, by four armed men who attacked him and his brother at their residence.

The suspects are said to have demanded an amount of GH¢100,000 from the victims family for his release, but he managed to escape.

Ayuba told Police that he was taken to an undisclosed location and kept under guard by armed men but later managed to escape and was assisted to safety by some farmers in Sambu.

The victim subsequently identified all three arrested suspects from their photographs, and further investigations indicate that the suspects are connected to other robbery incidents in the area.

The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting investigations, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices surrounding the incident.
