The Iranian military is currently evaluating its response to the United States' announcement of stringent economic measures aimed at destabilizing the government in Tehran. This development follows US President Donald Trump's declaration of an “economic warfare and isolation on an unprecedented scale” against Iran.
Iranian Military Strategy.
In light of these threats, Iranian commanders are reassessing their military strategies. Ahmad Vahdi, the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), emphasized the need for intelligent and effective solutions to counteract these challenges.
National Day of Defence Industry.
On National Day of Defence Industry, Ali Abdollahi, chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, highlighted a “deterrent defensive industrial revolution” in Iran's domestic weaponry production. Despite this, there was a strategic decision not to publicly unveil new arms, as stated by Ministry of Defence spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik. He explained that this decision was made to maintain the element of surprise and safeguard the country's defensive strategies.
Increased Military Production.
Talaei-Nik reported that Iran has significantly increased its production of weapons and defensive equipment, doubling output in the year following the 12-day conflict with Israel and the US in June 2025. Since the onset of the current conflict with the US and Israel on February 28, production of certain strategic products has more than tripled. He noted that over 9,300 companies are involved in weapons production, suggesting that US and Israeli efforts would be unlikely to cripple this sector.
Regional Impact and Strategic Moves.
Iran's response to the heightened economic and military pressures may alter the strategic balance in the region. As tensions continue to rise, Iran's focus on enhancing its defensive capabilities suggests a readiness to counteract external threats while maintaining its position in the geopolitical landscape.
The situation remains tense, with both diplomatic and military strategies being recalibrated by Iran in response to US actions. The coming months will reveal how these strategies unfold and their impact on regional and global stability.
