Tension Erupts at Ejisu Assembly Over Alleged Attack.

The Ejisu Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region of Ghana became the center of a heated confrontation. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu, Jerryne Asante, reported being confronted by individuals alleged to be constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This incident has sparked significant tension within the assembly.

Allegations and Confrontation.

The confrontation is reportedly linked to separate allegations involving a warehouse break-in that implicates some party figures. A video widely circulated on social media, initially shared by Akoma FM, captured a tense exchange between the group and police officers inside the MCE's office. The footage also showed Gloria Korshior Huze, Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme and NDC Regional Women's Organiser, present at the scene.

Damage and Escalation.

The video revealed damage within the MCE's office, including a shattered glass table, suggesting that the situation may have escalated beyond a verbal confrontation. Voices captured in the footage indicated that the group had entered the Assembly premises with the intention of forcing Madam Asante out of office. One individual was heard saying, "We didn't come here to joke; pack your things.

Official Responses.

Madam Asante strongly condemned the incident, describing it as "unacceptable" and emphasizing that those responsible would be held accountable under the law. She expressed her disapproval by saying, "The NDC has become cheap... you will suffer for it. Today, you have grown wings... you will suffer for it."

However, in an interview on Owia TV, Madam Huze refuted claims that the visit amounted to an attack. She insisted that their presence at the Assembly was merely to caution the MCE and not to cause harm.

The events at the Ejisu Assembly have highlighted deep-seated tensions and political rivalries within the region. The differing accounts of the incident underscore the complexities involved in political confrontations. As investigations continue, the focus remains on ensuring accountability and maintaining peace within the Assembly.
