A person has died in the United States after being struck by a Frontier Airlines aircraft during takeoff preparations at Denver International Airport.
The incident occurred late Friday night when the passenger plane was accelerating on the runway for a scheduled flight from Denver to Los Angeles. Airport officials said the aircraft hit an individual who had somehow entered the restricted airfield area.
Pilots immediately stopped the takeoff after noticing the collision, prompting emergency crews to rush to the scene. Smoke was later reported from one of the aircraft’s engines, leading to an emergency evacuation of passengers using inflatable slides.
All passengers and crew members aboard the aircraft were safely evacuated, although a few people reportedly sustained minor injuries during the process. Firefighters quickly brought the situation under control.
Authorities confirmed that the person struck by the aircraft died at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and investigators are working to determine how the individual managed to access the active runway.
The runway involved was temporarily shut down while investigators examined the area. Aviation authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident, which has raised fresh concerns about airport perimeter security and runway safety in the US aviation sector.
