Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, leader of South Africa's anti-immigration movement March and March, has claimed that many Africans, especially Nigerians, are jealous of South Africa.
Speaking during media engagements, including an interview with DW, Ngobese-Zuma argued that critic!sm directed at South Africa often comes from envy rather than a genuine understanding of the country's challenges.
“Other Africans are jealous of South Africa,” she said, adding that many people outside the country fail to see issues from a South African perspective.
She also singled out Nigerians, claiming that they “h@te South Africans” because of what she described as envy.
Ngobese-Zuma has been one of the most vocal advocates of the “South Africans First” campaign, which calls for greater economic opportunities and business ownership for South African citizens.
As part of that campaign, she has repeatedly encouraged people to support locally owned businesses instead of foreign-owned spaza shops.
According to her, some foreigners operating businesses in South Africa do not respect local laws and send profits out of the country.
