Tragedy has struck in northern Nigeria following the killing of former Jigawa State House of Assembly member and prominent ADC chieftain, Hon. Abba Anas Adamu, by kidnappers despite the payment of ransom.

According to reports, the abductors initially demanded between ₦100 million and ₦200 million for his release. After negotiations, tens of millions of naira were reportedly paid in an effort to secure his freedom. However, the kidnappers still went ahead to kill the former lawmaker while he was in captivity.

His body was later released to the family, sparking outrage and renewed concerns over the worsening insecurity and kidnapping crisis across parts of Nigeria.

The incident has triggered grief among political allies, supporters, and residents, many of whom have condemned the brutal act and called for stronger action against criminal gangs operating in the region.

Hon. Abba Anas Adamu was widely known in Jigawa politics and remained an influential figure within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Authorities are yet to announce any arrests connected to the incident.
