His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, presided over the Kumasi Traditional Council sitting at the Manhyia Palace on Monday in Kumasi.

The Council deliberated on cases involving Afia Gyabua vs. Krobo Dikro; Krobo Abusuapanin vs. Nana Antoahene; DC Sarfo vs. Nana Mampontenghene; Maame Sarah vs. Nana Mampontenghene; and matters concerning the Oyoko Obaapanin and Mampontenghene.

The Council further addressed Sakora Wonoo land issues, directing the Mamponghene to appear with the Elders of the Gyamfi Wonoo Stool, while a committee handling the Atobiase, Sewua, Akwaaduo, Homabenase, and Saaman land dispute was summoned before Otumfuo.

The sitting culminated in the solemn swearing of the Oath of Allegiance by Nana Abu Pra III, Asante Akyem Praasohene, and Nana Osei Kwadwo, Numuahene — reaffirming their sacred loyalty to the Golden Stool.

At the meeting, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, inaugurated a committee to investigate the dispute surrounding the Antoa Krobo Stool.

The committee is composed of the Pramsohene, Taahyenhene, Baworohene, Abountemhene, and Kyeame Kwaku Wusu.

His Majesty directed that all activities on the land cease until the case is resolved, acknowledging the lingering dispute between the Krobo Dikro and the Antoahene.

He urged patience, stating: “Krobo belongs to the Antoahene. Let’s first deal with the stool dispute, and after that we will look into other issues.”

The contention arises from claims under the Great Oath (Ntamkɛseɛ), with Afia Gyabua asserting that the stool belongs to her family and that the current Dikro is not a royal, a claim contested by the Dikro himself.

This decisive step underscores Otumfuo’s enduring commitment to justice, tradition, and the sanctity of the Great Oath.
