Medeama SC Coach Ibrahim Tanko targets another Ghana Premier League title

Ibrahim Tanko is targeting winning back-to-back Ghana Premier League (GPL) titles with Medeama SC next season.

The former Ghana international, guided the Mauve and Yellow to their second Ghanaian top-flight title last season and, they will look to make it successive triumphs when the new campaign starts next month.

"I want to win the title again next season, and, we have been preparing very well for it during this pre-season."

Coach Tanko and his charges took their pre-season rituals to Cote D'Ivoire where they played some five matches before returning to Ghana to compete in the Nsenkyire four-club tournament.

"Winning the league again is top on our agenda for next season, and we are determined to achieve that," Tanko said.

Medeama SC will compete on three fronts next season in the GPL, the FA Cup and the CAF Champions League.

They are currently in Accra to take part in the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top 4 tournament which starts on Wednesday.

Medeama SC will play Bibiani Gold Stars in the opening game of this pre-season tourney which also features FC Samartex 1996 and Dreams FC.

The tournament ends on Sunday with all the matches to be played at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon, Accra.

The 2026-27 Ghana football season starts on the weekend of September 4-6 with Medeama SC set to sit out the opening weekend of the campaign.

They will be engaged in the CAF Champions League preliminary round of matches at home to TP Mazembe of DR Congo that weekend in Tarkwa.
