Emmanuel Asamoah, a Ghanaian national, has returned safely to Ghana after facing xenophobic harassment in South Africa. This repatriation was a precautionary measure due to the heightened xenophobic climate in South Africa, which posed a significant threat to his safety. Asamoah arrived in Accra on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from Johannesburg. He was accompanied by Benjamin Quarshie, the Ghana High Commissioner to South Africa, who played a crucial role in ensuring his safe return.

Looking Forward to Government Engagement

Upon his arrival at the airport, Emmanuel Asamoah expressed deep gratitude to the Ghanaian government for prioritizing his safety. He praised the government's proactive approach in addressing his situation and mentioned his anticipation for forthcoming engagements with Ghanaian authorities.

Asamoah stated, “I am thankful for the government's intervention and am eager to engage with them to understand the plans they have for my future establishment in Ghana.” His statement reflects his optimism and readiness to rebuild his life with the support of the Ghanaian government.
