Appoint me as Fugu Ambassador - King Ayisoba

Ghanaian traditional musician King Ayisoba has appealed to the government to consider appointing him as a Fugu Ambassador, citing his long-standing commitment to promoting the traditional northern Ghanaian smock both locally and internationally.

Speaking in an interview with TV3, the musician said his consistent use and promotion of Fugu makes him a natural fit for the role.

“In Ghana, everyone knows that when it comes to Fugu, I am the ambassador. I have worn and promoted Fugu across all over the world.”

King Ayisoba further revealed that the particular type of Fugu he wears, known as “Sika Fugu,” is unique and specially made, stressing that it is not readily available on the market.

“The kind of Fugu I wear is ‘Sika Fugu’. It’s not common. It’s unique and you can’t get it anywhere unless you order it. They should remember me.”

His appeal comes at a time when renewed attention is being placed on Fugu, indigenous textiles and Ghanaian cultural identity as important elements of the country’s creative economy.
